Can I please add my request?  Vague as it is, I don't expect any great detail.... but maybe you can tell me what he was likely to be doing during his service?

Searching for mention of William McCormack/McCormick b. 1864 Glasgow Scotland, who served with the Scots Guards and was in Africa in 1901. 

He had previously been in the Scots Guards in 1886 in Dublin, and had left them  by November 1887.  I assume he must have been recalled for the Boer War.
