Both West St and Dolphin Lane still exist.

Dolphin Lane leads off the Market Place and is a tiny medieval lane - today is pedestrianised.

My old aged parents remember the night of the bombing of Lovelys bakery. The girls were killed as they didnt go down to a bomb shelter, and took a direct hit

Dolphin Lane which has the wonderful Indian Queen (Pocahontas?) at the entrance has to my knowledge of c70 years always been a pedestrian lane as has Still Lane, and on the other side of the bridge Emery Lane and Hatter Lane. They are tiny medieval streets, and archaeological surveys of the plots would be interesting to see whether they are still on the original boundaries.If I remember correctly Dolphin Lane leads through into Pump Square, and on the Main Ridge. This area is part of the medieval core of the town of Boston, and well worth a visit.

I remember  the air raid, and my grandmother  who went to the same chapel (High St Baptist)  talking about it and the German  Barbarians. I also remember  seeing the debris of the shop and the neighbouring  pub (Royal George or similar?)  Rebuilt  years before the shop.
My grandmother who seemed ancient  at the time was then 70,seven years younger than I am now. A matter of perspective?
