War Memorial - Location?

Hi All

I've tried this one on the Great War Forum and nobody seemed to recognise it. This picture was in my late grandmothers things and I think its a great war memorial somewhere in Hertfordshire, probably East Herts, but I have no idea where!

Any ideas anybody?

I had looked previously on the Roll of Honour site, although most of the Herts memorials there are from west Herts and there are very few from East Herts. However I shall look again. I'll try the ukniwm site as well.

Do you know when that picture was taken Anthony ?

I'm wondering if maybe .... it started off small and was added to later !!

Hi Annie

I think its probably not that long after WW1 as there are a number of flowers around it and it looks fairly new, at least I'm presuming its a WW1 memorial, the only immediate family member lost in the Great War is commemorated on Hertford War Memorial in the town centre. This one must have been important for some reason though.

Where was he born ?
Where did he enlist ?
Where were the family living when he died ?
Where did he die ?

I suspect that this may be a memorial for someone else, although we have no record of any other immediate family being killed in the Great War. Its a mystery.

Thanks, I've done that, cant do any harm, I've also offered as much detail as I have about our name on there as apparently a book is being put together about the Hertford memorial.
