Straight off.  I have found quite a few rellies missing on the 1901 census through Ancestry but they are there on the 1901census online site.  Do you know where Harriet was born?

I will look and get back to you.

Hi Derek
You say Albert isn't with his parents in 1881 so take it you have found the parents and any siblings ? Where are they living? Any details of other relatives he could be living with?
Jan ;)

Could you name Albert and Harriet's children to help search for them in 1901? They weren't by any chance Harry, Harriet and Lillian?

Hello Jan
The info on Albert was given to me by my father, his parents,William and Jane James were living in Kings Norton,Worcestershire by 1881 with the rest of their family,my father also said that Albert was very well educated, spoke several languages, latin and heaven knows what else,I bought the 1881 census (LDS version) when it first came out, when I crossed checked it with the
1881 on microfiche in the library,I found many errors and omissions through
other names I was researching at the time, thats all I know.

On the 1901 census there is a family with those children names and identically named parents - birthplaces correct etc to the year. Even the occupations of the parents are similar with the 1891 census.
Albert W a machinist woodworker (near enough)
Harriet a chainmaker (silver) - very similar.
All in Birmingham

Your only issue (along with child Harriet) is this family has a totally different surname.
What ages were the children - who was the eldest? What occupation was Albert?

Valda
