This seems to fit with suesmith's hypothesis in reply #2.
Berks / Oxon: Eltham, Annetts, Wiltshire (surname not county), Hawkins, Pembroke, Partridge
Dorset / Hants: Derham, Stride, Purkiss, Sibley
Yorkshire: Pottage, Carr, Blackburn, Depledge
Sussex: Goodyer, Christopher, Trevatt
Lanark: Scott (soldier went to Jersey CI)
Jersey: Fowler, Huelin, Scott

Hi LizzieL.
That is why I did not add the 2nd marriage to my tree.

My Great Grandfather married as a Bachelor yet his 1st wife died whom he had 3 children with prior to 2nd marriage.

I spent yesterday looking at my tree and noticed all the people who when they married where given the wrong husband and wives just because Anc* suggested them. The reason I know this is I have the marriages to prove the correct lineage.

One of them was Lucy and John Jupp daughter.

Saying that I could not find Lucy after the 1881 Census or death etc.

I can only find Lucy up to 1871. I have found daughters Emily Elizabeth and Ann in workhouses in 1881.

Me too and possibly Sarah Ann, (marries as Sarah Elizabeth) Alice. They state father's name as John William Jupp Gardener. Also John William Jupp marrying

Just found another tree on Anc* so going to check.

and in 1901 a servant in Margate
