Seymour
« on: Saturday 20 May 06 14:38 BST (UK) »
Hi..not sure if this census exists, but could someone lookup William Seymour  in 1841. They moved to Scotland between 1847 & 1849 and their name has various spellings, often with an s on the end. in 1851 they were living in Muirkirk Ayreshire. William's parents were Edward Seymour and Margaret Farrell and William had a brother Cornelius Seymour c1828

William Seymour(s) born c1822 shoemaker
Catherine Seymour (nee Doyle) c1822
Patrick Seymour son c1841
John Seymour son c1844
William Seymour son c1847

Many thanks Cynthia Seymour  :-*

Hello Cynthia,

There's no Irish 1841 Census. I tried Griffith's Valuation of Ireland 1848 - 1864 but although there were plenty of people named Seymour in Ireland at that time there were none in Leitrim.

Cynthia,

Why do you think that your Seymours were from Leitrim?

Griffiths has mention of five Edward Seymour in Dublin Cork and Llimerick.

RonnieG
Dyer - Paignton Devon
Rhodes - Wistow, Yorkshire
Moorman- Isle of Wight
Oliver - Surrey
White & Delaney - Dublin
Acres & Jackson- Tipperary & Offaly
Dowling & Mullane - Limerick
Ryan - Kildare
Heron - Down
Woods - Tipperary

Hi RonnieG, thank you for looking into this for me. I think I've got this wrong
On William Seymours daughter's birth cert it says says he was from Ballyshannon Co Donegal and mother, Catherine Doyle was from Leitrim Ballynagoech ?? They got married there in 1840.
So William's father, Edward Seymour(s) may have been from Ballyshannon.
Would it be possible for you to check Please.

kind regards Cynthia
