Hi Spark

Frances and Isaac are names that appear in my family, so I checked with my sister-in-law again - but none of them is your Frances and Isaac.

It is so sensible of you to confirm the info before you include it in your family tree.

I am very fortunate, because other family members have put in the time and $ to do the work for me - and they have verified the info by going to the primary sources - very hard yakka.  (I prefer the work that I have to do to maintain 460 acres of dry sclerophyll forest.)

PS re Mr Afford:  He was John Afford (1505) and his wife was Alice (1509) of Herstmonceux.

Happy hunting.

Cheers - Helen

Have you come across an Edith Foord who might have married an Arthur Osbourne (Osborne)in the 1890s

Hi Ringrose,

Does not appear on my sparsely populated tree. Sorry.

Hi, I don't know if anyone can help me find the parents of an Anne Ford/Forde born about 1752 in Ringmer. Any help would be appreciated. Poppyann

There is an Anne d. Thomas & Mary FORD bapt at Ringmer 5 Apr 1752.

She is the 6th of 7 children of Thomas & Mary FORD bapt at Ringmer between 1738 & 1755 in what looks like a regular sequence.

There may be more children - Thomas & Mary's marriage is not in Ringmer.

CAVEAT. FORD, in its many variants, is the commonest Ringmer surname from the 17th century to the 1970s (when SMITH & JONES leapt past it). Neither Thomas, Mary nor Anne are uncommon. There is what appears (from children's names) a different Thomas FORD with a wife Mary deported backwards and forwards between Ringmer & isfield in the 1740s.

I am in australia and have been doing a family tree recently.

I have an Elizabeth foord born in 1710 married a William Stoneham in 1730 in Ninfield, Sussex.

Have you found out Elizabeth's parents names because this could help with working it out...

Hopefully you get the answer your looking for.

I found a marriage for a Thomas Ford and a Mary Weller 16/3/1737 in Wartling but this is the only one I have found. I didn't know they had that many children, I only had William 1750, Anne 1752 and Charles 1755. Regards Poppyann

Hello,
My ancestors are the Foord family of Bexhill in the 18 teens and 20s  William Foord (Ford) and wife Jane (Bryant?) moved from Brede to Bexhill around 1815.  Children: Thomas was baptized 1814 in Brede, the rest were baptized at Bexhill.  William 1817, John Charity 1818, Edward 1821, James 1822 (my great great grandfather), Jane 1825, Matilda 1827, Philadelphia 1829.  I had wondered how my Foords are related to the Foords that were sent to Australia after the Sidley Green hubub in 1828, my Foords lived there at the time and I have dna matches with the descendants of the famous Foords that were sent to Australia.  William and all of his clan set sail from Rye in 1835 aboard the Brig Socrates.  I have a few articles of when the Brig arrived in the states.  Some people were apparently upset over the boatload of poor englishmen that arrived, later articles refuted the first saying they were all upstanding folks.  Any help on this Foord line would be appreciated.
