Lookup Please 1841/51/61 and 71.
« on: Sunday 21 May 06 20:32 BST (UK) »
 :)Hi,

I'm trying to find the family of Michael Brennan who married Catherine Murphy some time between 1855-69.

This is what I know:

ELLEN BRENNAN   Birth:  24 FEB 1867   0613,    Carlow, Carlow, Ireland
      Father:  MICHAEL BRENNAN/Mother:  CATHERINE MURPHY

I wasn't able to find the marriage of Michael to Catherine.

SIBLINGS OF ELLEN BRENNAN
1   ANNE BRENNAN   Birth: 03 DEC 1865   Carlow, Carlow, Ireland
2   ELLEN BRENNAN   Birth: 24 FEB 1867    Carlow, Carlow, Ireland
3   BRIDGET BRENNAN   Birth: 05 JUL 1871   Carlow, Ireland
4   MARIA BRENNAN    Birth: 01 MAR 1874  Carlow, Ireland

Ellen ended up in Manhattan New York married to Emmanuel Guggenheim and I suspect that perhaps the entire family may have emigrated to escape the plight of the potato famine.  Some 16% of the population of Carlow emigrated in the decade between the 1851 and 1861 census and so this is my best guess at this stage.

Any help locating Ellen's parents in 1841, 51, 61 or 71 would be fantastic as I may be able to work out whether she emigrated alone.

Kindest regards and thanks for your time in advance.
Kirsten

First complete census of Ireland is 1901 and only small fragmnts of earlier ones for a few areas survive so it's doubtful there will be any census records 1841-1871.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Kirsten hasn't been online since last December so perhaps she's not gotten your message yet.

I have recently been contacted by a member of this family who has provided me with photographs of Emil Guggenheim & Ellen Brennan and their children Mary & Ellen and lots of other terrific info so my search for this line is now complete.
