1891Census Request - Monmouthshire - Pitten
« on: Sunday 08 February 04 01:52 GMT (UK) »
I have previously requested a lookup for this individual in Cardiff,  however new evidence suggests he may be from the Ynys Ddu area,  so I wonder if some kind soul could look further afield in Glamorganshire for him:

Edwin Pitten born c1882.

Thank You
Kazza.

Hi Taf Kazza  ;D

I cannot help with the 1891 Glamorganshire Look up, but I may be able to help you in the right direction. if you go to  http://genforum.genealogy.com and go to the Wales forum search for message number 11559 and a lady "Vivien" very kindly assists with 1891 Look ups (quite a bit of Glamorgan is still not available, but I have had some success but not with all)

Vivien's quote on the genforum:

Willing to do lookups in the 1891 census. If popular Welsh surnames please give as much info as possible.
Vivien

Hope this helps you.

Hwyl am nawr!  Jen ;D

I have looked on the 1891 'on line' census - but it does not not come up with one single 'Pitten' let alone an Edwid Pitten.

When searching the 1891 on line, I understand it covers all the welsh counties for that particular census

Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhh,  :-[

I have just learnt that Ynysddu is in what was Monmouthshire,  so I have renamed my request and apologise to all those following the wild goose I sent out. ::)

I don't think it has been called Ynysddu for long, and cannot find it on the Genuk list of registration districts in Monmouthshire.  It seems to be north of Caerphilly and east of Cross keys,  but I don't know what it came under,

oh well,  here's hoping,

Kazza.

Ynysddu is near Pontllanfraith but the nearest 'big' town is probably Blackwood.

It could also have been listed under Cwmfelinfach.

Hope that this helps.
