Those are brilliant scenes, Fitty. So you've got a pc each then. And you don't have to go far for sustenance, I notice.
Very recently I got fed up with the way my garden shed was organised - I  had carried on where the previous owner left it. I intended just organising it for DIY and gardening purposes but I have made such a good job of it so far that it's primary purpose will be a genealogy den -somewhere I can leave folders open and charts on walls and papers piled up without bugging anyone else. I'll put a pic here when it's all finished. I'll have room for a kettle etc but not for a fridge :-\

Dave's a geek Clincher,  We have 5 PC's  two on my side, two on his side and one in the livingroom.  The small monitor you can just about see in the corner was an old shop till monitor, we bought it at the boot fair for a fiver.  It runs the server we have.  All the PC's are scavenged from Fairs, bootsales and one of the monitors even came out of a skip!
If we go anywhere on a sunday he heads off to a puter fair while i head off in the direction of the nearest graveyard  lol

See Fitty,  you are a very sick woman.  Looks like you and Dave are co-dependant.   ;D ;D

I seem to have all the symptoms too,  we are going down to Cardiff tomorrow for a Bat Mitvah,  I have to be back for work by 5,  and I am trying to wangle in a quick cemetary visit.  2 hour round trip and all.  ::)

That's brilliant Fitty, glad I'm not the only one.

Think my husband is getting a bit fed up. Told him I need another room, not much hope though!!

Symptoms of Genealogist's Pox...
« Reply #14 on: Thursday 25 May 06 09:44 BST (UK) »
WARNING: Very contagious to adults.

SYMPTOMS: Continual complaint as to need for names, dates, and places. Patient has a blank expression, sometimes deaf to spouse and children. Has no taste for work of any kind, except feverishly looking through records at libraries and courthouses. Has compulsion to write letters. Swears at mailman when he doesn't leave mail. Frequents places such as cemeteries; ruins; and remote, desolate country areas. Makes secret night calls, hides phone bills from spouse, and mumbles to self. Has a strange, faraway look in eyes.

NO KNOWN CURE.

TREATMENT: Medication is useless. Disease is not fatal, but gets progressively worse. Patient should attend genealogy workshops, subscribe to genealogical magazines, and be given a quiet corner in the house where he or she can be alone.

REMARKS: The unusual nature of this disease is -- the sicker the patient gets, the more he or she enjoys it!

Spreading through more than your country!!!

There's another place that the sufferer haunts in Oz.  Because we do not have access to register offices, we haunt the little dark rooms of LDS centres, muttering morosely into a microfilm reader and occasionally giving a whoop of triumph that causes everyone else in the room to jump six feet into the air!!!  ;D

Unfortunately I haven't had occasion to do that for some months.  But I'm not cured!! I keep ordering in more microfilms at $5 a pop, hoping, hoping....  :( :(

Now I don't feel so bad for having 3 PC's in our house - one for my 4 year old in his bedroom (not online) - and 2 in the living room, one old and one brand new, both connected online of course.  ;D

I'm usually on one PC at Rootschat or doing more genealogy while DH is on the other playing games. :)
