How to kill off a genealogy group!
« on: Thursday 25 May 06 23:52 BST (UK) »
Some of you will have used, and may still occasionally visit, a genealogy group which can be reached via google.  I have just read a post on there which may well kill it off.  A "gentleman" who inhabits the site to grace it with his expertise, and to send abusive personal emails to anyone who stands up to him, has laid into what he calls spongers and scroungers who ask for look-ups because they're too mean or stupid to pay for the means of looking things up for themselves.  What a rant!
Godden in East Sussex, mainly Hastings area.
Richards in Lea, Gloucestershire, then London.
Williamson in Leith, Vickers in Nottingham.
Webb in Bildeston and Colchester.
Wesbroom in Kirby le Soken.
Ellington in Harwich.
Park, Palmer, Segar and Peartree in Kersey.

Other forums, other customs.  :)

We have had a similar discussion recently about other forums doing things differently.

So let's just accept, that that is the way of the world and get on with our business.
