Hi,
im trying to track down the parish where Martha Brace, nee Nicholas was born. On the 1871 census her birthplace is Tavemspile, Carmarthenshire, Wales. I havent been able to find a reference to this place, so any suggestions as to which parish it is?

Hiya Maria nearest i can come up with is Tavernspite which is in Whitland Carmarthenshire .Put Tavernspite Whitland into google.Best Wishes Welsh Lady

This looks like her in 1851 - given that she names her children Ruth & William!

1851 census  HO107/2475/429/11

William NICHOLAS H M 33 - farmer 17 acres - Carmarthen Llanboidy
Ruth W M 22 - do Kyffig
Martha dau 10 - scholar - ditto
Elizabeth dau 4 - ditto - ditto
Thomas son 2 - ditto
Harriet mother Wid 73 - do Llanboidy

Address: Castellgerun?, Lampeter Velfrey, Pembrokeshire

Kyffig - or Cyffig - is also near Whitland, apparently (try www.old-maps.co.uk )
