Hi Patrish

Your common ancestor was your great-grandfather, so you're second cousins.
There's a generation's difference, so you're 2nd cousins once removed.
I think!

Just to confusion matters

I presume that Mary and Maria were in fact
half Sisters Your Great Grandfather having
been married twice.

So does that make you half  second cousins once
removed!!!

Jinks

Step Sisters have no blood relations in common
(it due to remarriage)
where as half sisters have one blood relative
in common.

Thanks Dave thats sounds good to me and thanks Jinks, yes you are right they were half sisters, so perhaps your explanation is also right.

Mind you I still cant get my head around this, how can step sisters have no blood relation when you share one of the same parents?

Step Children are through marriage.

John marries Mary and has children

Michael marries Anne and has children

John then marries Anne

Children are related through marriage only.
If John and Anne then go on to have
children they will be half siblings to the rest.
