Family Reunion Tree Ideas
« on: Monday 29 May 06 19:51 BST (UK) »
I am looking for some good ideas for displaying and adding information to a family tree at a reunion next month.  Perhaps a form to be filled in or sticky notes to add to a tree?

What has worked for you in the past?
Thanks
Hilary

Never actually thought of that but a photo board at a recent Ruby wedding party went down well and every one made a number of comments about different photographs.
Perhaps a combination printed tree/photo wall would be appreciated and with plenty of paper/stick notes handy for anyone to add info to.

Last year I organised one for the descendants of one set of greats. I had photoboards (some sent them in advance and I scanned them), charts and address books  and everyone chatted and exchanged stories. I also produced label badges with the photos of their grandparent on so that everyone was able to recognise which line individuals were descended from. There's also a video.
About 90 came.
It was great fun and NO family rows :) :) :)

Hope you enjoy it.

Give out a sheet of paper and a pencil.to each relative(youngsters too)
Think of all the questions which you want answered. Then even if memories don't always tally you may find extra leads.
Make a game of it.
Group photos are fine but make sure they have good readable name tags on so that you can identify them later.
An elderly cousin organized a big family gathering in the 70's and then passed her photos to another cousin.(not on my side)
Have at last made contact with her on GR so hoping that I will get some answers.
