Chyshore Farm, Kea
« on: Tuesday 30 May 06 06:46 BST (UK) »
My grandfather was working at Chyshore farm when he died in 1912.  I would like information about this farm--who owned it, how big was it, what did it produce, etc.
Hunts/Camb: Baxter, Green, Moore, Leethorpe;
Somerset: Payne, Walter;
Cornwall: Brewer, Calf, Chegwidden, Rundle, Webber, Williams;
Ireland: Olwell, Breadner, Perry:
Scotland: Ferguson, Marshall, Robinson

Hi Fenman, welcome to RootsChat! :)

You might need to get in touch with a Cornwall Family History group to find answers to your questions.
Have a look here for information about the Kea District:
http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/Cornwall/Kea/index.html

I've found Chyshore on the 1901 census - all it tells you is who was living there at the time:

1901 RG13/2224/26/6
Chyshore, Kea, Cornwall
Henry Teague, head, 29, cattleman on farm, worker, b. Gerrans, Cornwall
Melina Teague, wife, 30, b. Kea, Cornwall
Wm Teague, son, 6, b. Kea, Cornwall
Bessie Teague, dau, 5, b. Kea, Cornwall
Hy Teague, son, 3, b. Kea, Cornwall
Leslie Teague, son, 11 mths, b. Kea, Cornwall

You can find Chyshore on a map. Go to http://www.old-maps.co.uk , enter 180500,42247 in the search box, click/select the little Co-ordinate button and click Search. If you then choose the enlarged view, wait until it loads then scroll down near the bottom of the map.

Cheers
Koromo
