Limerick City Placenames

I have a John Howard and a Tomothy Naughton listed in the Griffith's Valuation from Limerick in the Parish of St. Peter's and St. Paul's and the placename of Kilmallock, John Street. I am totally confused as I thought that both of these Parishes lay within the boundaries of Limerick City. However, Kilmallock is a village outside of the city limits south of Limerick City by appx. 24 kms. Am I reading this right, would the parish extend this far? What would the placenames around St. Peter's and St. Paul's Parish be called?
Could someone please answer a confused Aussie.

There is no Saint Peter's within the boundary of the city. Your on the right track with Kilmallock but it is a parish to it self not extrending from the city.
