Becoming a Genealogist
« on: Wednesday 31 May 06 15:57 BST (UK) »
Hello.
I am between jobs at the moment and am looking for a change of career doing something that I enjoy. I have always had an interest in genealogy and have sucessfully traced my own family tree and compiled a book etc. I love doing research.

i Wondererd if there were any professional genealogists or anyone who could give me some advice please.

Im 26, single and living at home so I havent got any real financial commitments.

Any help and advise would be greatfully received.

Many thanks.

Andy

Hi Andy !

Can I suggest you look in the For Sale/ Wanted section of the board !

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,49.0.html

There are a few people who are professional Genealogists - ask around for opinions on whether it would be a beneficial career change for you ! also there's always Google - check it out and see what you think !! it's harder than you think to do this Genealogy "thing" that we love - for money ! people don't want to pay ..... why do you think we have so many people on RootsChat ??
You might want to start off slow - apply at a local records office or library !

Good Luck !
