Looks like another George that's not ours though.  Hopefully the birth certificate will be a breakthrough for us.  I'll keep you posted!

Hello everyone,

Here's the update as promised.

From the birth certificate we have got,  George Hindhaugh as the father and Mary Ellen Sharkey as the mother.


My great grandfather is still not George Edward Hindhaugh b. 1881 Burnopfield, Durham.

He could be George William Hindhaugh b. 1876 in Coal burn, Durham I can't find marriage details to tie this up though.

Mary Ellen Sharkey was born in Low Fell, Durham in 1886.

If anyone can tie anything up It will be graetly appreciated.

Hi Tanja,

There seems to be quite a few Mary Ann and Mary Ellen Sharkeys in the area  ::)

She was definately called Ellen, as people remember that.  Hence the initial confusion, So I think that it would have to be a wrongly recorded name for that to be her?  On the birth Certificate it just has George.  It could possibly be them, but I have a few others to rule out first.

I have found a Mary Ellen Sharkey married Apr quarter 1904 Newcastle L (ref 6b 142)  but can't find a husband for her yet!
