Census sheets to post on Rootschat

I've had a few queries re 'what does this say' type of thing from census sheets that i wanted to post on Rootschat. However, when i try to copy and paste from the Ancestry census i'm unable to do so. I've tried 'saving ' the sheet to my documents but even then i cant copy from it.
I managed to email one such sheet to Gadget who somehow managed to post it for me and even enlarged the relevant words i was querying.
What am i NOT doing right. ??? ??? ??? Poli

It is not possible to attach/post an image on any of the look-up boards on RootsChat.  The facility has been disabled on the look-up request boards to stop anyone from posting complete images, which is a breach of copyright.

You can post portions of an image for clarification of handwriting etc on other boards (i.e. not the look-up request boards).  It sounds as if Gadget managed to do this for you.

I understand about the copyright but i've just  been trying  to post a small portion of a census to get help in deciphering a few words here and there. It's the technical bit that i find difficult. I just cannot seem to find a way to copy and paste them as part of a topic.

I've got Windows XP and can find my way about my p.c fairly well but putting those few census words on screen beats me and it's driving me potty ::) Poli

Hi Poli

I don't know if this will help but you first need to open or right click on the census image you have saved to the computer and use the "save as" function to save the image in a different format ie. save as .jpg or .jpeg

Once you have done that then you can open in whatever photo/image program you have and then crop etc..
