Thomasin changed over time to the now much more popular Tamsin. They are pronounced similarly despite the apparent extra syllable in Thomasin.

And in 1861 London census i've seen a woman forenamed Thomason.. Enumerator's error i s'pose

I've just come across a Thomason too, in 1861 Census Durham.  Looks like they had trouble with this name.

I've got a Thomason among my Sussex rellies born 1839 Burwash, the same family had several Thomas's so I presumed it was the female form.
