Tinkers Hatch - Hadlow Down

Hi

Would someone be able to end a family argument?  My brother is going to a steam rally at Hadlow Down and says it is at Tinkers Park.  I have always known the area as Tinkers Hatch. 

However I can't find it on a map.  Does anyone have evidence of that to shut my brother up!

He's always right, you see, well at least in his mind!

They must have changed the name of the place then, because I am sure it was Tinkers Hatch!

Kerry, I put Tinkers Hatch into Google and came up with a nursing home with the address New Pond Hill, Cross in Hand, Heathfield.  I'm not too good at the geography, is is close.?

Is that any help? :-\  If they named a nursing home after it maybe it did exist and as you say the name has changed over time.

Yes Cross in Hand is fairly close.

I know it existed!!!  :o :o :o

The name is so familiar to me!  I shall have to investigate further.

There is certainly a Tinkers Hatch close to Cross in Hand according to Ordnance Survey:

However, it would seem that the steam rally is held in the village of Hadlow Down (according to everything I could find on Google including here:

http://www.villagenet.co.uk/ashdownforest/villages/hadlowdown.php )

So, perhaps both of you are correct.

I used to live in Hadlow Down and it is very definitely Tinkers Park - Tinkers Lane runs along side the venue of the steam rally.  I well remember the first events in the village, there used to be an end of season event in October too.
