Baptism look-ups please
« on: Sunday 04 June 06 19:28 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have the following children of Joseph and Elizabeth Johnson and their baptism dates:-

Anne Johnson - baptised 17th Apr, 1814, Croxall, Derbys
Joseph Johnson - baptised 28th Jan, 1816, Croxall, Derbys
Henry Johnson - baptised 23rd Aug, 1818, Croxall, Derbys
Emma Johnson - baptised 19th Sept, 1824, Croxall, Derbys

I am looking for a Thomas Johnson with the above parents and wondered if these are his siblings.

I have found a marriage date for a Joseph Johnson and an Elizabeth Hines (21st Dec, 1812 - Edingale) and have presumed that the above children are theirs.  I have been studying the boundaries of Edingale and Croxall and they apparently both fall into Derbyshire and Staffordshire in the 1800's.

Any help will be greatly received

Many thanks
Wendy

Hi,

Can't help you with your research here but do you know if your Joseph Johnson (senior) had any illegitimate children???

Regards, Christine.

Christine,

You may already know this site, but it's a developing list of bastardy orders for Derbyshire. No mention of Joseph Johnson fathering an illegitimate child in Croxall - though I don't know how complete the records are at this stage - but if you search Johnson you'll find various other Johnsons who did have bastardy orders made against them around that time.

Hope that's some help,

Thanks, yes there are a lot of Joseph Johnsons around.  I shall have a look on the website for bastardy orders.  I don't know as yet if Joseph did have any illegitimate children or not, but it is possible with my family line up - I have found a few already.
