IGI Index submitters

Does anyone have any tips on how to find out who submitters of ancestry files are on the IGI index?

Usually there is a statement at the end of a search saying the file was submitted after 1991 but no more information is available.

Hi downside, what you need to do is see if the person you were looking for appears in either the Ancestral file or the Pedigree Resource Files, that's where you might find the submitters name and address.   I say might because sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't not all submitters of information put up contact details.

I did mention it was an ancestry file.  Surely they must know who submitted files to them?

These days they are very keen about sources, I assume they know who submitted files in the past as well?

I just had a rummage among the Help topics and found this

Submitter(s): Click on the Details button to see information about people who either contributed the information to Ancestral File or who are interested in finding out more about the person. You can contact the submitters or researchers to find other information about your ancestor. Some addresses are outdated.

I just tried it for one of mine that appears on the site and bingo! a contact name and address appeared

If you find an entry that interests you then scroll down the page and you will see a heading for 'Submitters', on the extreme right of that section is the details button

We must be looking at  different screens or something, there are no buttons on the results screen.  All I have at the bottom is:

Messages:
 Record submitted after 1991 by a member of the LDS Church. No additional information is available. Ancestral File may list the same family and the submitter.

Yes we are looking at different screens, that message appears towards the bottom of the page for an IGI entry.  Ancestral Files entries show the submitters details.

I think I'm with you now.  So if I go to the Ancestral File tab and perform a search there and it comes back blank then there is no submitter?

Something has weird happened because I downloaded a GEDCOM file from LDS back in 2004 for a whole family but it isn't there anymore.  I've still got the GEDCOM on my PC and it had AFN: numbers for each individual within the file and a submission number.

Now, all I can only find are individual entries on the IGI index.
