I've just found my step grandfather's membership book to the Co-Partnership scheme dated 10 Aug 1915. I have no idea whether he may be mentioned in the book you have . Would you be able to check for me ? His name was Archibald Thomas Joyce . Thanks

No idea I'm afraid. he was born in 1893 , so should have been the right age to fight. But I only knew him when he was an old man & I was a child, so no idea what he'd got up to before he married into our family.

Hello Biker.

I don't know if you still look at this thread (hope you do) but my greatgrandfathers brother is listed on the index.

Surname - CROW
Initial - S (SYD)
Rank or position - PRIVATE
Regiment - 2nd Wiltshire Regt
Entry Key - P, O
page - 163

I was wondering what information the entry has and whether there is a photograph and description of how he was killed perhaps.

Thanks in advance

Ali.

Hi guys with the info on the gas light and coke company.

My ancestor, George Griffin Cook worked as a labourer at gas works and at gas light and coke company. He lived in Willesden and Stonebridge Park, so his gas works would have been in that vicinity.
I know he was working there in 1909, and on his death cert dated 1927 he was noted as labourer gas works.

Having been born in 1861 he was too old for military service in the Great War, but I wonder whether your books contain obits?

Ali

I have checked the Remembrance Booklet for Sydney Crow - I cant see him listed, but I do have a couple of pages missing.

I have checked the 1914 Annuals, and 1915 up to May, he isnt listed as a company man serving with the colours, nor does he appear on the In Memoriam pages.

Is there any more info that may confirm he worked at GL&C and not another coke or gas co. (gas is unlikely as there was only Tottenham Gas Co. as an alternative).
