Henry Elderfield
« on: Thursday 08 June 06 01:53 BST (UK) »
New user (Australian) seeking information on birthdate/place/parents etc for Henry Elderfield, a silk weaver who died in James Street Bethal Green on 14 August 1859 at age 90 (hence born around 1770). 1841 Census lists him and wife Ann at James Street but unfortunately does not list his birthplace.
His descendants lived in Shipton Street, Bethnal Green in the late 1800's early 1900's.
Hope you may be able to  assist

Hi, rergarding Henry Elderfield. He married Ann Emmerson 26 May 1791 at Tower Hamlets. The will index for him states "The will of Henry Elderfield, late of  2 James Street, Ravencroft Street in the Parish of St Matthew (Bethnal Green) Gentleman deceased who died 14 Aug 1859 was proved byu the oaths of Joseph Denington (son in law married to Elizabeth Elderfield) silk manufacturer and Joseph Washington County Silk Winder." Hope this helps

Now you've found that he was born in Newbury, Berkshire, it might be worth posting on the Berkshire forum (and provide a link to this thread). I seem to remember there was someone on there researching Berkshire Elderfields.
