What a gem you are! I'm pretty sure that this could be it as on one of her daughter's death certs. it states Charlotte's maiden name as Pilbin, on another, Philpin.

Maybe her name wasn't Pelham after all! Now if I could only access the IGI batch numbers site I could be in business.

Hi Genie & thank you Chris,
To get a clearer picture of the various parishes in Sussex (and it's a big county) go to the Surrey Family History Group (sfhg), parish maps  http://www.sfhg.org.uk/newmap_of_parishes.html
I printed out the sections and carefully stuck them together to get the 'Big Picture'.
Names can get contorted, as I have found out, so don't dismiss that.
Come back to the Sussex page if you need more help,

Chris, I think what Genie meant was that she couldn't access the LDS site through the IGI batch number site, as that's not functioning either.  I've just tried it and she's right.
