Hi Ann,

Don't you think this is the family in 1841?
HO107/1394/1 19 4

Do you know whose child Rees 1853 is?  ???

Oops!! Just wondering whether we are tracing the right Rees.

I see 2 possible chaps in 1881:

The prisoner, and another born Beddgelert Caernarvon!! (named Rice)
RG11 5566  28  5
but he's unmarried!

Ann

Are you sure that you have the correct Catherine in the 1841? I see that you find a Catherine with an Elizabeth (b. 1838) in the 1851 but not the subsequent ones and where were Alice (b 1845)  and Mary (b 1846) in the 1851?

I suspect that there were two Catherine Roberts in that area and born roughly the same time (not a very uncommon name) and you have found them both. Have you looked for the other Catherine in the 1861? The 1841 usually recorded ages in 5 year bands for those of 15 or over, although some 'raw' ages were recorded.

Alternatively, Edward might have died and Catherine could have married Rees (first child Alice ?).  This is worth checking as well - death and marriage and birth reg for children.

I think the 1841 reference I gave you matches the 1851 family. However, I see there are several Rees/Rice Roberts and am not sure the one you are tracing back from 1861 on is the right chap.

Then of course, there isn't one born Llanaelhaiarn - my God, how do they pronounce these names   :o -  before 1871.

thanks for that , i did get lost with all the ROBERTS -  then i looked into the JONES, my gosh , there lots of them to.

in 1839  an edward Roberts m catherine OWEN  or she married Robert roberts    pwlhelele

1838 edward roberts m catherine WILLIAMS  Llanrwst

1842  Edward roberts m Catherine PRICE  BANGOR  ANGLESEY//

These names are so differcult for me... i get confused , dont even know if i am in the right area,,  and every census seems to have a different birth place and i cant match them..

Thanks so much for helping..

i am so excited about finding more of this family,,, thinking Rees cant be a common name, yea right..
