1901 census look up please?
« on: Friday 09 June 06 17:49 BST (UK) »
Hello, I was told that there were no census for Northern Ireland but today I find differently, thanks.

I'm looking for 2 families, the Clark(e) & the Stevenson families.

David or poss Michael (he went by both) Clark(e) b.1871 in Scotland, his wife Agnes b.? & their daughter Mary b.1896 in Cunningburn.  They may still be in Cunningburn or maybe Ballyblack or Grey Abbey.

James Stevenson b.?, his wife Agnes b.?, their dau. Isabella b.1878 in Crossnamuckley, son Hamilton b.1892 in Loghriescourse & there are other children but I don't know when they were born, Elizabeth, Robert, Agnes & Charlotte.  Poss living in Ballyblack.

Hamilton Stevenson & Mary Clark were my grandparents who moved to Australia in 1921 & they never spoke of their life in Ireland so it's been difficult finding info but I have had help from the Ulster Historical Foundation.  If there are any other census for these areas I would appreciate these families looked up in 1911 too.

Thanks in advance to the kind people who might help me.

I am unable to look up up 1901 or 1911 census for you, however you probably know the townlands of Crossnamuckley, and  Loghriescourse and  Ballyblack adjoin each other, if not see map at Ros Davies website

And have you seen PRONI covenanters 1912
Surname  Forename(s)  Address  Parliamentary Division  District  Place of  etc
Stevenson James Ballyblack  Down: North Newtownards Ballyblack
Stevenson Agnes Ballyblack Down: North Newtownards Town Hall
Stevenson Hamilton Ballyblack Down: North Newtownards Town Hall
Stevenson Isabella Ballyblack Down: North Newtownards Town Hall
Clarke Robina 20 Regent Street  Down: North Conlig, Newtownards and Ballyblack

Just to keep you going, Jim

Meridith:
Here is a link to Caora which has the head-of-household index for the 1901 census in Down as well as other items. I took a look and there are several James Stevensons listed in Newtownards, one being in Lougherascourse.

James Stevenson Lougherascouse Newtownards 1901_Census Newtownards North Division

You can request the film from your nearest LDS Family history center and rent it for  a few weeks for about $3.75 (U.S). They also have the 1911 census available.

Hope this helps some.
