Now this is where it gets tricky  ;)

No marriage/banns for Andrew Westwater and a Margaret Pattinsen or any variation in either the 1855 + records or the OPRs - have found 2 Andrew Ws marrying Margarets - Brown and Aitken. I'll have another look later -for William Ws birth record to check mother's ms. It might be worth you doing an IGI though.

Where will I find the IGI for Scotland, Gadget?
Is it on Scotlandpeople or Ancestry, - or somewhere completely different? :-\

Cheers, Romilly.

Hi Romilly

The IGI covers Scotland. In fact the LDS boast that they have all of the OPRs. Not all are on line though. This is if they were bpt/married in the established Church. Other info that is is available 'remotely' is on BIVRI 2nd ed.

The 1841 census, you know about. Your cousin might like to chase up the censuses 1851 - 1901, less the 1891 one that I have already found.

Having looked at the print out, Margaret patterson's mother's ms was Latto.

Cheers
