Almondsbury War Memorial (WW2)
« on: Wednesday 14 June 06 07:23 BST (UK) »
I am in need of some help in tracing three men who are mentioned on this memorial but do not show up on the C.W.G.C site

If any person know of them I would appreciate and information you may have.
The information I do have came from the memorial

1st,  Victor Nigel CAPEL Lt, 82 (WA) SEAC killed in Burma 20 Feb 1945

2nd, Reginald Godfrey PRITCHARD Trooper Royal Armoured Corps died from accidental injuries, England, 21 March 1943

3rd John Alexander MacKENZE (IE) L/Cpl Gloucestershire Regt died of wounds in Italy 2 August 1944.
How ever I did find a John Alexander MacKenzie Signalman, buried in Cassino 4 April 1944 but with no Gloster Regt connection

regards
Alf

Couldn't see anything on Mr Pritchard though :(

Alf, what is your source for his date of death ???

There is a death registered for a Reginald G PRITCHARD age 20 in the civilian death indexes for the March quarter 1943 - London C district ref. 1c 15 which may or may not be him :-\

I haven't checked the army death indexes.

The CWGC appears to be very "hit & miss" on this type of event ............. we have one who died in a motorcycle accident who is registered with them and also another, who died of TB, who is listed yet buried in a pauper's grave :-\
