Hi Twigg

Firstly, Welcome to Rootschat :D

Secondly, I've found him in 1891, that was the easy bit!!!!:

RG12/2838 folio 92 page 33

Marston, Cheshire on Canal Boat "COLL"

John Twigg Captn M 32 Boatman born Shropshire Market Drayton
Elizabeth Twigg Wife M 29 Boatwoman born Lancashire Rufforth
Sarah E Twigg Dau 1 born Cheshire Runcorn

His sons are on the Canal Boat "MULL" (same page)

George Twigg Captn's son 12 Scholar born Cheshire Runcorn
William Twigg Captn's son 9 Scholar born Cheshire Runcorn

I am just guessing here, but looking at the age of the two sons, and the large gap before daughter Sarah was born, there's a possibility that John had been married before.  It might be worth checking that out.

I'm just off to check the other census now................

John Twigg Head M 40 General Labourer born Cheshire Runcorn
Elizabeth Twigg Wife M 40

John Twigg Son 9
Robert Twigg Son 5
Charles Twigg Son 2

The image shows them all as being born in Cheshire Runcorn.

And 1881:

RG11/3932 folio 33 page 5

Hulme, Manchester

Boats Castlefield - Enterprise & Speedwell

Jno Twigg Head M 26 Captain of Boats (Man) born Market Drayton Salop
Elizabeth Twigg Wife M 22 Captain's Wife born Yorkshire Bretherton
George Twigg Son 23 ( :o :o) born Cheshire Runcorn
Frank Dale Assistant Unm 26 Hand Boatman born Lancashire ??? (looks like Mauner?)

I think son George should be aged 2 or 3, obviously not 23!!!!

It might be an idea to summarise which censuses you believe you have and which you still need, Twigg.

Sorry - I was at work.

We try to catch multiple postings, but it is not always possible when there are so many to read (and we do leave our computers sometimes!!)
