Ethel Price and George Henry Price
« on: Wednesday 14 June 06 21:47 BST (UK) »
I have been searching for some time for details of ETHEL PRICE and her father GEORGE HENRY PRICE. They were both born in Middlesbrough, George in 1864 to David Price and Hannah (Wharton) and Ethel in 1895 to George and Margaret Ann (Jones). I can't find them in the 1901 census although my information tells me that they were likely to be in Middlesbrough. George worked away from home a lot. I have lots of more recent information on them but can't track them down in the census. I suppose I'm hoping that they are in someone's tree. Does anyone have any info please? ???

Hello again,

Possibly more useless information - but from mighty
oaks little acorns do grow!

1901 census, Middlesborough RG 13/4577 page 7.

26, Gladstone Street.

Robert Goodwill, age 61, occ. Steelworker, b. Yks.Killick Percy
Hannah, wife, age 62, b. Barnard Castle
George W. son, single age 24, Steel labourer, b.M'bro.
John Hornby, grandson, age 3, b. M'bro.

On my first post pls. ignore the Linthorpe area, I dreamt it!

Hi,

It may be worth noting that according to the
BMD:

Middlesbrough 1891, Dec. qtr :

Henry Price married Margaret Ann Jones, no
mention of his former christian name George.

Thanks everyone for your information. I hadn't included it in my original posting but I had the information about David Price's death and his widow marrying Robert Goodwill. Her maiden name was Wharton and I've researched her quite extensively. She had lived at 26 Gladstone St. with David and Robert was her neighbour at no. 33. Looks like they married after the death of both of their spouses and he and his family moved in with her. She lived there until her death in 1911. I'm not sure why George Henry was subsequently known as Henry, it may have been because Robert had a son George so it would have been a bit confusing!
Thanks again anyway  ;D
