1891 Census Request: Hessie Stevenson, again !
« on: Monday 09 February 04 12:56 GMT (UK) »
Hallo,

I recently posted the following request: "I am looking for a Stevenson/Stephenson family.
Mother is called Hessie, children are called Hessie, John, Emily. The daughter Hessie was born in Silverdale, near Morecambe (reg. district Lancaster) and I think the three children were all born by 1891.  "

Chris from 1066land looked it up and found nothing. My wife then said "... but they usually called themselves Hettie !"

Could somebody try again for me, please.  Thank you.

A further thought: they might have left England and gone to Scotland by 1891.  Can anybody do a look-up in the scottish 1891 census, or that a separate topic ?

Many thanks,
Biting my nails in Berlin,
Bob

Hi there again

"I recently posted the following request: "I am looking for a Stevenson/Stephenson family.

Have checked the 1891 Census again for 'Hetty'

There are 3 Hetty Stephensons aged 14, 10 and 1 – but all are in Yorkshire; plus non of them have siblings called John or Emily

There are 2 Hetty Stevensons aged 10 and 2; one in Middlesex and the other in Yorkshire – but again neither of them had siblings named John or Emily.

"A further thought: they might have left England and gone to Scotland by 1891.  Can anybody do a look-up in the scottish 1891 census, or that a separate topic ?"

I am sorry, but I do not have access to the 1891 Scottish Census

Hi Chris,

Thanks for looking again.

I feel this will be a "Feet and Pencil" job, i.e. next time I am in Britain, its "on your feet, grab a pencil, and off to the PRO !".

Hope you enjoyed your dinner !

Bob.
