Hi Abbeyrose,

Have you found parents names for your Tregonnings' yet? As Jenn said, that would help us alot.
Here is a link for S.A. shipping:-

http://www.slsa.sa.gov.au/fh/passengerlists/BoundforSouthAustralia.htm

There are plenty of Tregonings on the Vic. and S.A. Indexes but a bit more info would be great if possible.

All the best,

Magoo

Hi Magoo
According to Thomas Tregoning's marriage certificate his father's name was John.  That's all I know.  Thomas was married in 1868 at the age of 28 and he died in 1891 in South Australia.  I have had a quick look on the Bound for South Australia website.  Is there a quick way to search for names, or do I need to enter each of the ships names and then look at their passenger list?

Hi again Magoo
I have just had a look at all of the ships arriving into SA from England in 1850 and 1851 and had no luck.  I'm pretty sure it would not have been until the late 1850s (at least) that Thomas Tregoning came to Australia, as he would have only been 11 in 1851 and this is the last year that shipping details are listed for.  Do you know if there is anywhere I can search for arrivals in the late 1850s/early 1860s?
Kind regards

Hi Jenn
Thank you for this information.  I'm pretty sure this isn't my ancestor, because of the year you mentioned.  Thomas Tregoning was either 28 or 23 at the time of his marriage in 1868 - I'm pretty sure it is 28 but it is a bit hard to read on the certificate.  So, that would mean he was born in 1840 or 1845, making him only 21 or 16 in 1861.  I know you said ages can very by a couple of years, but do you think this is too much of a variation?
