SIT: Different spellings
« on: Friday 16 June 06 20:32 BST (UK) »
I have just discovered the SIT board and think it is an excellent idea.  However I have one family Cavvell, that turns up as Cavill, Cavell and Cavel.  How do I cope with this.
Somerset:  Blacker, Wilton, Withers, Cox, Cleverley and Cavill
Gloucestershire: Horne

Hi Annie

I also have a similar problem to this with some surnames so I have just added a comment in the comments slot to say that I was looking for all variables. Others may have other ideas that work for them.

Hi Annie,

just enter 4 seperate lines, CAVVELL, CAVILL, CAVELL, CAVEL

If you have space in the "Comments" field then
for the CAVVELL entry you could enter "or CAVILL, CAVELL, CAVEL" and
for the CAVILL entry you could enter "or CAVVELL, CAVELL, CAVEL",
etc.
but that is up to you, as you may have other info. you want to add there.

Jericho,
same for you, if you want to put in a line for each variation, we have loads of space.

Bob

Hi Annie
Where are your CAVILLs from?  Mine seem to come from East Yorkshire.
