Not sure whether this will help but there is a web site for the Mapstone family, it  is

Quite a lot of my husbands family from the villages around Somerset settled in Wales. We have Spencer probably from the Wedmore area which is not too far from Weare. but I have only gone back as John Spencer 1860. I will made a note and see what I can find

   1.  JOHN1 SPENCER (6718) married Rebecca Vowles (6503), daughter of (NK) Vowles (6719), on 19 Dec 1801 in Weare, Somerset, England.
   
        REBECCA VOWLES (6503) was born in 1778 in Badgworth, Somerset, England.  She and George Vowles (6553) appeared on the census of 6 Jun 1841 in West Houghton, Wedmore, Somerset, England.
        The three known children of John1 Spencer (6718) and Rebecca Vowles (6503) were as follows:
       2.   i.   JOHN2 (6726) was baptized on 23 May 1804 in Weare, Somerset, England.
      +   3.   ii.   GEORGE (6522) was baptized on 23 May 1804 in Weare, Somerset, England.  He married Alice (NK) (6491).
       4.   iii.   SARAH (1096) was born in 1808 in llandaff, Glamorgan, Wales.
        She and Elizabeth Hill (1065) appeared on the census of 2 Apr 1871 in Allerton, Weare, Somerset, England.  Elizabeth Hill (Mapstone) is Sarah's Aunt.  She appeared on the census of 3 Apr 1881 in Road Leading from the Allerton Mill, Chapel Allerton, Somerset, England.

   3.  GEORGE2 SPENCER (6522) (John1) was baptized on 23 May 1804 in Weare, Somerset, England.  He married Alice (NK) (6491).
        He and Alice (NK) (6491) appeared on the census of 6 Jun 1841 in Mill Farm, Llanishen, Glamorgan, Wales.  He appeared on the census of 30 Mar 1851 in Mill Farm, Llanishen, Glamorgan, Wales.
   
        ALICE (NK) (6491) was born in 1804 in Glamorgan, Wales.  She died before 1851.
        The five known children of George2 Spencer (6522) and Alice (NK) (6491) were as follows:
       5.   i.   RICHARD3 (6554) was born in 1835 in Glamorgan, Wales.
       6.   ii.   JAMES O (6609) was born in 1836 in Glamorgan, Wales.
       7.   iii.   JOHN (6602) was born in 1838 in Glamorgan, Wales.
       8.   iv.   GEORGE (6641) was born in 1840 in Glamorgan, Wales.
