Cambridgeshire parishes in the general area look to be
Castle Camps
Shudy Camps
Horse Heath
West Wickham
Bartlow
and a bit further afield are Linton and Balsham, West Wratting and Weston Colville

In Essex I think you are looking at :
Sturmer
Helions Bumpstead
Steeple Bumpstead
Birdbrook

Hope that helps,
Julie

Hi

There are only JOBSON's on the Linton Baptisms. I am local and I have spoken to someone regarding the name JOPSON and there were some in the area in the 1930's, however they were non-conformists so there is a chance the one you are looking for was too - this would mean that the baptism wasn't on the standard registers.

Which registers would they be on then? I thought they would all be on the one register - sort of a central one?

I hope I have this right and I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Parish Records usually come from the Parish Church which in most cases is Church of England. Non conformist registers are usually transcribed seperately and available through the Family History Societies.

There is a note regarding Haverhill's on the Cambridgeshire Family History society under current projects.

All parish registers in England are Church of England.  At various periods mainly in the 18th century the parish registers had to contain all baptisms in the parish including non-conformist ones.

The only collection of non-conformist registers was that at Dr Williams Library particular from 1742 onwards.  These are available at the Family Record Centre in London,

Bapitist Church Baptisms of course did not take place until the age of at least 12 usually later.

So the fact that I can't find a baptism in the parish that I think it may have taken place, doesn't necessarily mean it didn't happen there, it may have been non conformist and entered in these records in London? Jo
