Hi Jenn,
Yeah thanks I saw that that's what I was talking about.
She was born in 1867 so I'm sure that's her.

Wonder what she was doing in Goomalling!? and why she called herself BEECROFT again.
Sounds a bit like they must have split up or went back to his previous wife do you think before he died??

Hi Lily and friends,
On the old favourite NAA, I can see Louis Philip Jobert DOB 1910, NOK Margaret Joubert. Pob, Melbourne.  Enlisted Melb.
This file is OPEN meaning if you apply online and wait a while, you can have it digitised for reading.
Also I see Joubert, Numa Ferdinand whose NOK is GEORGE ARTHUR Jourbert.   This is fully digitised now.
So he may well be a brother of Louis.  The new biographical site [above] introduced to us by Dennford. has a lenghthy article on the Melb. Jouberts.  Quite illustrious.  I still know a Melb Joubert who is an architect.

It seems there were 8 brothers Joubert.!!

Hi Sparett
I looked at applying a while back to have a record digitilised not sure if it was that site or not but didn't really understand what was involved. Do you have to send in form can anyone do it does it cost?
Guess I should have another look they may have made it a bit clearer how to go about it.

DO you have any idea how long it takes?

What site do you mean regarding the jouberts 8 siblings? I can't seem to find it on the biographical one posted. What are you searching with?

Thanks for the suggestion.

Lilygirl.

Hi Lily
Yes, on the biographical site posted by Denn.
I just used the quick search at the top and put in Joubert.
The biography was about the Jouberts who were active in late 1800's and one of the 2 brothers had 8 sons.  The names Jules and NUMA and Dinnier seem to keep recurring through the many listings on the NAA site so there was a relationship in there somewhere.

As to the digitisation.
This is straight forward if the flie is listed OPEN.  Just follow the prompts on the screen.  No cost   Wait up to 6 weeks [but not always so long]
If not examined, there is another process,  It does not cost, but you must request through a different set of questions etc.  all there on the site.
Please let me know if you have difficulty with either of these 2 leads and I will post more specific links. Sue

I have just been totally engrossed in the digit. service history of Louis Phillip's brother [I believe!!] Numa Ferdinand.
Apart from an insight into his life  -enlisting underage, getting found out , falsifying documents being discilpined for laziness etc. etc. we can also see a letter from the father G.
Now I live not so very far from the Kingston Street mentioned and it is a very 'good part of town'
I love the letterhead that George uses.  Tells us his profession and so on.
Intrigue!

Hi Jenn,
We've both made small slip in our last posts.
I said Louis was enlisted Melb. Wrong. Enlisted Gnowangerup
You said from Gnowangerup. Wrong born Melbourne.
Wish my rellies were as interesting as Lily's
