Breakish Parish records
« on: Saturday 24 June 06 12:35 BST (UK) »
Hi,
Is there such a thing as parish records for the area of Breakish??

I am trying to find a Niel McGillivray born 1769/died 1836
He married Janet Nicolson in 1787, and they had 5 children, all born in Breakish (Angus b.1787; Finlayb.1795; Charles b.1797; Marion b.1802; Donald b.1804 - all approx).

Also, I believe Donald was a fisherman and drowned, and Charles was the local schoolmaster - is there any way I can check these family stories??

I would be grateful for any info on these families, or on where to look for more info!!
Thanks a lot :D

It would the parish of Strath that you need.

New Register House indicate that they hold OPR for Births/Baptism 1820-1854, Marriages 1823-1854, no burials.
