Salter family on western isles
« on: Sunday 25 June 06 11:51 BST (UK) »
I've just been on a very interesting site where you look up your surname and it shows where in the uk it is most common - apparentely in 1998 my name Salter is most common out in the western Isles of Scotland! I was wondering if anyone on this board knew any Salters out on the western isles and know where they originate from - Salter (my own name) is the only name I cannot trace out of the 20th century so I thought this might help!
Thanks
Alison
