Mayday...as in HELP!
« on: Monday 26 June 06 17:08 BST (UK) »
Hello all,

I have just come across a place in Hertfordshire, which apparently goes by the unlikely name of 'Ballance Horned'. Now I can't find this on Google, and I've checked the most likely places in the county resorces index, without success. Could somebody please confirm that this place exists? Perhaps it was renamed at some point? If anyone can shed any light on the subject, and put me out of my misery, I'd be most grateful!

Regards from a confused

I came across it in the IGI - ok, not the most reliable of sources I know, but the only one I have at present!

The marriage of William Nye and Agnes Tregian in 1525, at Ballance Horned.

Apparently William Nye was Rector of a local parish church, but which one I don't know.
