Hi

Thank you for the map - I have been able to find the gasworks, Robert Street, St. Marys Church and the viaduct but not Willison's Street?  Can you direct me rom those places please?
The narrative was interesting too thank you.

Regards

1 Willison's Lane was off Princes Street in Port Glasgow town centre. If you are familiar with the town centre as it stands today, then Willison's Lane would have run just to the rear of the Peacocks and Moneystretchers stores, infront of the railway station.
My great grandparents lived at 1 Willison's Lane  for many many years, and my father who was familiar with Willisons Lane, pointed out the location to me a few years ago..

I think it is most likely a mis-transcription of Willison's  Lane.

I couldnt find Willisons Lane on the map either supplied by tootsiepie, and I am familiar with the area.

I dont think it would be a mis-transcription of Wilson STREET, which is further out from the town centre, towards the Glasgow Road.
Hope this is of some help to you.

Hi, see if these instructions are any better.

Click the map link that I previously posted.

You will see a rectangle on the bottom left hand corner with the no.s 11.11.14

Click on it to enlarge that particular rectangle.

Now go to the very right hand edge of the map about half way down the page, enlarge again,  and it is very clearly there above the railway line.

Now I've just re-checked my original intsructions

'''Click Bottom left hand corner square.

Then click very right handside of map or enlarge here,

Just above halfway down., above the railway line '''

Crystal clear. But perhaps you are not familiar with these type of maps.  They are maps within maps.

Now Robert St, which you said you found is in the Bottom RIGHT hand section.
