1891 census Lookups Please - Truro(Kenwyn) - TEAGUE/DAVEY/SEARLE
« on: Tuesday 26 October 04 15:09 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I need some 1891 lookups which may help solve a mystery, which is really causing confusion at the moment. ???

Sara Teague married Henry Davey in 1866
Mary Ann Teague married Robert Jordan in 1866
Thomas Teague married Elizabeth Ann Sara in 1874.
I have the 1871 census info for them all, plus the Jordan census info from 1891 & 1901.

In 1881 I have this entry
Household:

Thomas SEARLE   Head   M   Male   46   Truro, Cornwall, England   Coal Porter
Maria SEARLE   Wife   M   Female   40   Camborne, Cornwall, England
Thomas SEARLE   Son      Male   10   Truro, Cornwall, England   Scholar

Bessie DAVEY   Daur      Female   12   Truro, Cornwall, England   Scholar
William DAVEY   Son      Male   10   Truro, Cornwall, England   Scholar
Emily DAVEY   Daur      Female   5   Truro, Cornwall, England
Henry DAVEY   Son      Male   4   Truro, Cornwall, England

Edward JORDAN   Boarder      Male   11   Truro, Cornwall, England   Scholar
Rebecca SARA   Boarder   U   Female   26   Perranarworthal, Cornwall, England   Genl Serv Domestic
Thomas TEAGUE   Boarder   M   Male   28   Truro, Cornwall, England   Carrier
Elizabeth S. TEAGUE   Boarder   M   Female   28   Perranarworthal, Cornwall, England   Carriers Wife
Thomas TEAGUE   Boarder      Male   5   Truro, Cornwall, England
Maud TEAGUE   Boarder      Female   2   Truro, Cornwall, England

I have not seen an original 1881 image just the LDS transcription, all I can think is maybe the image was poor & visitor/boarder has wrongly been transcribed as dau & son.
I cannot find Henry & Sarah in the 1881.

In 1871 Thomas Searle is with his wife Maria & son Thomas 10months.
Also with them are 2 daughters with the surname Bennet.

In the 1901 census  I have found entries for Thomas Searle with his family
Henry Davey with his family & Thomas Teague with his family.

I have been unable to find a connection between Thos Searle's family & the rest of mine so far, but am curious why the Davey children should be entered as his.

Any help appreciated, this mystery is driving me nuts!! ;D

Just another thought on this one Chris did Sara Davey die and that is mayb y the children r with the Searles in 81 as this is the only possible I can come up with for the Daveys notice the big gap in kids ages!...I think u should request a 81 lookup on the main census board to mayb clarify some of these relationships..I know there r people with the scans

Thanks Kris,
that's brilliant
  ;D ;D
Great Minds 'n all!!

I posted on the Cornwall board asking if anyone had the 1881 image Cd's.
No luck so far, but Archive CD Books have got the Truro District on Cd & they sell each district separately, so I'll probably order it. It'll be faster than waiting til I get the time to see the film & not much more expensive after I've paid for fuel & parking.

I checked Free BMD & found Henry's marriage to Henrietta in 1885, after finding him with a Henrietta  in 1901. There are 2 possible's for deaths for Sarah listed.

Maybe the Searles are related to Henry Davey? That's why I want to check the image & see if the transcription is correct.
Thanks again :D

I would still b inclined to post on the main census board Chris I think there r people who have the entire 81 census on disc. they may not visit the Cornwall board...I could b wrong but worth a try 4 sure...Also I checked up  on another  transcript for 81 census and it does agree with LDS! all children r sons and daughters! But does seem like that is what u will find on the scans as well...so i just dont know It is bazaar to say the least and I still cannot find hide nor hair of the Searles in 91 no matter what I try. I just saw your 61 request for Sara I will do it after..Im the only one who has that one lol...

Ok Kris, will give that a try.

Frazee!! I know!! & I thought the 1901 had some odd ones ;D
I's not as if Teague was unusual in Cornwall.

I know you need to be creative when searching the indexes, but that's  like they just thought up anything (don't even know if it is a name) & went for it.

Maybe thats a pointer on how to search?! :-X

Thanks again for all your help

Hi
Just found your post as I have not been signed up to this site before.  I have been trying to trace the roots of Henry Davey and his family.  I am a great grandchild of his and I too have hit a brick wall for although I can account for the connection between the Davey's, Teague's, Sara's and Jordon's as for the Searles?  I know its been a while since your post so I hope you get this and wondered did you get any further with your investigations - would love to know, what your connection to the family also is and if you have a family tree that makes sense?  Do I have another long lost relative out there I ask myself?  Any help will be really appreciated.
