BERRY in Barnet
« on: Wednesday 28 June 06 04:32 BST (UK) »
Looking for information on Mary Ann (Berry) Thomas Bradbury born 1816, according to 1851 census, in Barnet, Hertfordshire.

Father was Kingsmill Berry according to Marriage cert to Charles Bradbury dated 8 Jan 1846, at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Brompton, Middlesex.

Also looking for more info on Kingsmill Berry and family.

Mary’s first Husband was supposedly Griffith Thomas.
Griffith’s birth, marriage, death all unknown.
Son of Mary and Griffith, Griffith Charles Thomas born London, Middlesex according to 1851 census. Griffith Charles Thomas was born abt 12 February 1843.

Mary and Charles’ marriage certificate also list witnesses as W.J. Bradbury and Sarah Forrest.

From 1841 census I have family members of Charles Bradbury:
Father Jacob b abt 1791 Middlesex; d abt 1883 and
Mother Mary (Wetherly)b. abt 1801 Middlesex d abt 1879
Charles Bradbury b. abt 1821(1819) d 13 August 1876 in Illinois,USA
Alfred b September 27 1822  Middlesex; d after July 1897
Frances(Bradbury) Honndensden b. abt 1826;
Ambrose b abt 1827 Middlesex; d before 1898
Sarah (Bradbury) Whitehead b. abt 1834; residing in London in 1898
.

I do know of any more siblings for Charles, so who is W. J. Bradbury on marriage cert?
The other witness is Sarah Forrest, Charles sister Sarah would have been around 13 years old at this time, she could be related to Mary Ann?

Thanks for reading this novelette.

Hi Larry  :)

I have been thinking about the unknown W.J Bradbury, and wondered - could it be Charles Bradbury's uncle??

Here is what I found on the IGI:

Jacob Bradbury - born 10th Oct 1786, St Marylebone
Father - Ambrose Bradbury
Mother - Sarah

Willm Jacobs Bradbury - born 12th Dec 1775, St Marylebone
Father  - Ambrose Bradbury
Mother Sarah

Isaac Bradbury - born 18th Dec 1782 - died 1st Sep 1783, St Marylebone
Father - Ambrose Bradbury
Mother - Sarah

I notice on the 1841 census, Charles has a brother called Ambrose and a sister called Sarah, could they have been named after their grandparents?

William Jacobs Bradbury also seems to have had a son called William Bradbury (born 21 Jun 1800, St Marylebone) another possibility for W.J Bradbury? (he would have been Charles' cousin). On the 1841 census, this William is living in Dog and Duck lane, Edmonton (not too far from Barnet?) with wife Harriett and 4 children.

Hope this makes sense!  ;D

Hello Millerina,
I think this makes sense at least I really want it to haha.
Another generation down is William Jacob Bradbury and he had a nephew name William Jacob Bradbury.
The names really seem to travel through the familys.
Thanks
Larry
