hello
i have 2 children that are at home in 1881 aged 3 and 6 months
but by 1891 they are in the workhouse why do you think this would be?
would both parents have died? or been ill and if so couldnt other family members help out,how could i find out how long they were there for it is BRIDEWATER UNION WORKHOUSE would there be records somwhere.

The Bridgewater Parish Guardian Minutes books have survived and are available at The Somerset Record Office.

They often contain invaluable biographical information, and may solve this mystery for you.
