Hi Jose  :)

In addition to the links Pat has provided, you could contact your local records office or archive.  They should be able to give you good advice.

Also try these links:

Hi again,
I just looked at the Yahoo link given above - I would treat that one with caution.  You should not consider applying adhesive to your clippings (or anything else you want to keep, for that matter), and you should definitely not carry out any sort of wet treatments like this article advises.  Those kinds of treatments can be risky and are best left to a qualified conservator.

Just storing them flat, in archival-quality housing, will go a long way to preserving them for the future.  Dodgy treatments will probably do more harm than good.

Also, make photocopies or scans of everything, if you haven't already  :)

Why don't you just replace your tattie cutting by having new ones printed out. ??? You don't give a location so i presume you live in the U.K. If you have a lot of cuttings and don't live in the area. You may need to contact the library reference room and ask for printouts of the articles. If they are from different papers.(different film)The cost will be 50p per print out and 50p for the machine, plus a charge for the search. If you want cheaper, as suggested, put them on a disk.

No I dont live in the UK I live in NSW Aust . The cuttings were from the Yorks. Evening Post in 1967.
I think I'll just get photocopies on good paper & then work out how to deal with them . Many thanks . We have a niece in Leeds she may be able to see the newspaper for us .

Hi Jose - it might be a very basic library - but it's a glorious place to live - I love the southern coast of NSW. I had a look on the NSW State Records - they probably have information on there somewhere as to storage (as described by Prue) but I was mainly looking for your closest ARC depository - thought you may be able to go chat to someone about it -  closest one is probably Nowra - they have phone details - may be worth a call.

Scans and photocopies are always great for storage options - but originals seem to add so much authenticity to a family collection  :)  :)
