More help please transcribing Will
« on: Sunday 02 July 06 12:27 BST (UK) »
Hi

Still working on Hugh Vincent's will.  Nearly there now.

Just two enquiries, the first, I think says
'God make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme followings Item'

Is this correct and what does it mean?

The second clip I have got the gist of, but could someone just run through it and confirm what they think it says.

Thanks again for your help  :)

Hi Kerry,

It actually says "doe make and ordaine......"

It means what it says: I make my will in the following form.  Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife...."

The second one says:

"use and ? Command of the howse I now dwell in and of what ....... thereine shee please to Command and make use of att all tymes for her owne use and the use and Command of All my nowe Howsehold Stuffe whatsoever att her command to bee for use there for terme of her life.  Item my Will and meaninge....."

problems with a couple of words... need to get my glasses or magnifying glass out.  Working on  it.

Kerry,

The word I can't make out in the first line where I put the dots, it seems to have six letters, the last four of which are:

..omes

It could be five letters but I'm not sure.  Does the word appear anywhere else?

It could be "Somes" i.e. sums but the S is not clear at all.   ???

Thanks again for your help, you've obviously had experience at this!

Of course its doe make and ordaine,  God didn't make sense at all.  They may have written funny but they did make sense  ::) ::) ::) ::)

The word that you put the dots in for I kept reading as what as comes??  Trouble is when I read a word as something it looks like nothing else.

Perhaps someone else can shed a different light on it?

Kerry :)

I wondered about "Incomes" which would make sense, but not sure.
