Alderney Census Look Up please

Hi, we would be grateful for a look up for the following

Isaac Smale born Alderney, Channel Islands  around 1858

Would appreciate a look up on the 1861 & 1871 census

He got married in Australia in 1878

This is the only Isaac of about the right age appearing on any UK census (including the Channel Islands).

He doesn't emigrate. No Smales born Alderney.

Thank you Ozmouse & Valda for your look ups.  It is of course possible his family had emigrated between when he was born and the 1861 census or his parents were just passing through when he was born and are not from the Channel Islands.

Perhaps Isaac was not his first Name.  Are you able to check for any male "Smale" children born in Alderney in the 1861 census. 

His occupation in 1884 in NZ was an Engineer

No Smale born on Alderney in any UK census. No Smale on Alderney at the time of a census. You get a few Smales on Guernsey and Jersey but no Isaac.

I think you need to find more details about his parents which should be relatively easy if he died in New Zealand, as their names will be on his death certificate.

all transcribed as Small but image looks like Smale -2 l's are Not the same -second one looks like an e

1861 living in Devon -torrington Workhouse
Isaac transcribed Small-but image clearly shows Smale
age 1 pauper b Beaford Devon- lots of different names and everyone 's p.o.b. given as Beaford Devon
on previous page there is Esther Smale U 30 Pauper b Torrington Devon.
The names don't seem to be in alphabetical order or in families -Isaac is the very last entry.
