Searching for Defiance Orchard
« on: Thursday 06 July 06 18:51 BST (UK) »
My grandmother Defiance Orchard was born June 1892 possibly in Plymouth.  Looking for more information about the family.

Hi Jackie,

I can see her on the 1901 census at St Breock Cornwall.

Would you like the details?

I'm looking for details of her parents.  Not sure the Joseph is actually her father.

Thanks for that.

The problem is that her marriage certificate from 1910 shows her fathers name as William!!

Hi
Was just searching for Joseph's marriage to Maggie.
the only one I can find for a joseph is in 1875 in truro to a Peggy Smith.
silly question .... is the name peggy interchangeable with maggie and Margaret?

will keep searching for you ...under joseph and maggie and william and maggie ...lets see what comes up!  ;D

Yes - Peggy Maggie Margaret can all be the same.

The marriage certificate for 1910 show her father as William.  I'm curious about a William Orchard shown on the 1881 census in Teignmouth, Devon wife and daughter called Priscilla and another daughter Sophia.  My aunty was called Priscilla Defiance.  I've always suspected this could be her parents.  They are on the 1901 census living in Plymouth.
