The family members that I have an interest in would be my Grandparents Lymbery
both deceased and their parents Lymbery & Knight and great great grandparents.
Lymbery & Brooks.

Hi I am a Kirkbyite and there are living Knights in the area, in my youth 1960's one a 'Betty' Knight owned a shop on the corner of Harcourt Street and Victoria Road

Is Victoria Rd near Vernon Rd ?  I used to visit my Grandparents (dads family) on Vernon Rd and visited a few sweet shops in that area. But alas I dont think Betty Knight was related.

The surnames I have an interest in relate to my mums family.
Thanks for the local information

Hi

Vernon Road runs Parrallel to Victoria Road off Harcourt Street.

There was a shop on the corner of Victoria Road and Forster Street and another on the corner of Forster Street and Vernon Road and another on Vernon Road about half way along opposite the School plus another on the junction of Cookson street ( a continuation of Vernon Road) and Park street, so you had plenty of choices for sweets!!

Any thing else I can help with just say.

Do you know if there are any local history groups/ family history for Kirby in Ashfield ?

Many members of my family including myself originate from the Ashfield area.
Links may be useful to find further info on family in late 1800's.
